Recap: Cervelo Masters (Round 2)

Venue: Calga

DIV 1 RACE REPORT

Round 2 of the Cervelo Masters Super Series was held at Calga and saw more podium placing for the Dhuez Racing Team with Johnathan Millington also retaining the yellow jersey.

Christian Godyn took the heart-starter prime atop Blood Hill with an early attack just holding off Luke Cridland.

Despite multiple spirited attacks during the race, the bunch continued to reform until a break containing Ben Neppl, Craig Sinteur (Nth West Sydney CC) and Chris Schofield (Sydney CC) was given some freedom. With 15km to go, this lead group had over 1 minute advantage on the peloton and when Schofield was dropped, Neppl made his decisive surge at the base of Blood Hill for the final time. He quickly opened a small gap on Sinteur and would hold this 8 second buffer over the final kilometres to the finish line.

3rd place was decided in a bunch sprint with Jordan Ross taking out the photo from Luke Cridland (St George CC). Johnathan Millington was close behind and finished in 5th to gather sufficient points to defend his yellow jersey heading into the final round at Eastern Creek.
